GP Psychological Medicine training introduced to this year’s conference
We’re proud to announce that ASLM are partnering with the Australian Society for Psychological Medicine (ASPM) to bring more to this year’s conference, Lifestyle Medicine 2017. ‘GP Psychological Medicine Training’ will be delivered as one of the pre-conference workshop options on Friday 15 September. Not just for GPs though! RACGP Category 1 points will be available to GPs who attend. CPD points for most other professions will be available.
The training will provide attendees with not only a theoretical foundation from which to draw on but also some practical assessment skills and top tips for clinicians.
Once you have registered to attend the pre-conference workshop, you will be able to select your desired workshop options closer to the date.

More about the ASPM
Mental health problems are currently the second most common cause of morbidity in general practice and GPs provide more than 10 million mental health consultations per year.
The Society aims to provide an Australia-wide peer support network to help GPs to increase their competency and confidence in managing mental health problems. The Society also supplies educational resources and opportunities, and promotes the interests of its members. It encourages self-care for doctors and community awareness of the doctor’s role in mental health care. The Society works collaboratively with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and with mental health organisations.
Individuals who are not medical practitioners, or who are working outside Australia, are welcome to participate in some Society activities by joining as Friends of the Society.
